CDKL5 Deficiency Disorder (CDD) is a rare diagnosis that was first identified in 2004. It is caused by mutations in the CDKL5 gene found on the X-chromosome. Most children affected by CDD suffer from seizures that begin in the first few months of life. Most cannot walk, talk or feed themselves, and many are confined to wheelchairs. They are dependent on others for everything.
The CDKL5 Center of Excellence at Children’s Hospital Colorado provides therapy and expert assistance to families dealing with a CDD diagnosis.
The CDKL5 Benefit Concert featuring Mike Zito was a huge success! Mike won the Best Rock Blues Artist award at the 2018 American Blues Music Awards. Our concert also featured opening act The Jack Hadley Band, winner of the 2017 Colorado Blues Challenge.
